Curious About the O-Shot? Here’s What You Should Know

O Shot Fresno, CA

Why on earth would anybody go for an O-shot? Many women would ask themselves the exact same question as they squeeze their legs together and squirm at the thought of an injection to their lady parts. Many more would be curious, however, and for a very important reason: the female orgasm can be an elusive thing, and there are few things more depressing than sex without the payoff.

Enter the O-shot, an injection of blood platelets into the area near the clitoris. The shot is considered non-invasive if you consider a needle to (arguably) the most sensitive part of your body to be non-invasive. So, how does the shot enhance the sexual experience to deliver mind-bending orgasms? Well, it goes a little something like this.

Introducing the O-shot

The O-shot is made from a person's own blood. Once the blood is drawn, it is processed in a medical device that works like a centrifuge. The device separates the blood into its individual components to create platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the person's blood.

In simpler terms, the O-shot is PRP made from the patient’s blood. That means that no foreign chemicals are introduced into their body. The healing comes naturally from contents that are taken directly from that patient.

How does it work?

After it is extracted, the PRP is injected into an area near the clitoris. To target the G-spot, another shot of PRP is injected into the area just inside the vagina.

Platelet-rich plasma has been found to stimulate cell growth and regeneration in numerous medical applications. Which is exactly what is supposed to happen in the vagina and clitoris. The O-shot stimulates the growth of blood vessels and nerve endings in the genitals, making them more sensitive and responsive to stimulation, which makes for great orgasms. Even vaginal ones. The end result? Markedly improved sexual experiences.

What to expect

Getting the O-shot involves a non-surgical procedure that begins with the application of numbing cream to the sites of the injections. As the genitals become numb, the doctor draws the patient's blood and spins it in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich plasma.

The genitals should be numb by the time the PRP injections are ready, and the doctor proceeds to inject a local anesthetic into the area. Lastly, they inject the PRP near the clitoris and G-spot. Thanks to the numbing cream and anesthetic, the whole procedure is painless.

What happens afterwards?

A doctor will tell the patient to let the genital area rest and abstain from sex for three days after the procedure. Some patients report near-immediate results, with heightened sensitivity and long-lasting orgasms.

Once the numbness wears off, the person will experience slight bruising and some soreness that goes away in a day or so. The patient may also feel a burning sensation when she pees, but this also goes away in a day or two.

The effect of the O-shot lasts as long as the cells in the genitals continue to regenerate. For some people, it lasts many, many months. Some doctors report that they have had patients who have enjoyed the effects of the O-shot for a few years.

Can urinary incontinence be treated with the O-shot?

While there is some promising study on the potential benefits of the O-shot, it is important to note that there is still much we do not know about this treatment. More research is needed to determine whether the O-shot is an effective treatment for urinary incontinence. In the meantime, people interested in the O-shot should talk with their doctor to see if this procedure is right for them.

Does the O-shot hurt?

Most patients report only mild soreness during the procedure. The injection site may be tender for a few days afterward, but this usually resolves independently. There are no lasting side effects, and most patients see an improvement in their sexual function within a few weeks. If you struggle with low libido or other sexual problems, the O-shot may be worth considering. Talk to your doctor to see if it is right for you or if there are any risks you should know about.
